Watch what you post to your social media platforms

What scares companies the most about social media? The time it takes to do it properly. It’s the first reason that socialmediatoday.com lists in it’s The Top Six Reasons Companies are Still Scared of Social Media. So it comes as no surprise companies and small businesses are always on the lookout for plugins or services which linkĀ  Twitter, Facebook, Digg and a myriad of other social media platforms together so the user can simply update in one spot and all their social media platforms are automatically updated. It’s easy, it saves time right? Well, sometimes. Look at the Twitter post below:

be careful what you write

When I first read this, I only saw “Our room rates double”. Of course I knew that couldn’t be right, and in fact when I checked their facebook page the special is the following: “Winter storm coming our way tomorrow and Cranmore Mountain is opened this coming weekend. Our room rates, double occupancy, start from $89 this weekend. You should really come!”

In the quest to save time, sometimes the correct message doesn’t always come across. There are many tools available, but sometimes the best way to ensure your message gets out correctly is to take the time and do-it-yourself and leave the automated tools out of the mix. If you do use automated tools or plugins, be sure to check all the settings and always double-check after you post to make sure the right message is getting out.
