Social Media and Email Marketing: mixing it up
Posted July 23rd, 2010Social media. Yep, we are talking about it again. Not a very big surprise is it? But hold on, this isn’t going to be one of those diatribes about how you need social media, or a do’s and dont’s type of thing. This is about how to integrate social media in with some of your existing marketing campaigns.
*Cue the Julia Child’s imitation voice* We are going to take our social media here, and just dip it into our email marketing campaigns. Now isn’t that wonderful. *end imitation voice*
Tink Taylor at www.socialmediatoday.com recently put together 7 Tips to Integrate Email with Social Media. Here are a few key ones:
- Add social network “subscribe” buttons or links to your email messages.
- Campaign for your social media network friends to subscribe to your newsletter, e-mail specials, etc
- Ask for feedback, and start conversations from both your social media network and your email campaigns to better serve your clients and to encourage communication.
- Track your email campaigns and website to find out where your audience is. Are they on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn?
When you combine the two, you can achieve some great results. Both parties are already interested enough to be subscribed to your newsletter or have “Liked” you. Give them the option to be part of both.
