20 years ago… “portable” computers

Posted December 15th, 2009

The popularity of the laptop and other hand held smart devices make it easier for everyone to get information, music and video as they move about, whether it be driving in the car or even flying. Wi-fi spots are available at coffee houses, hotels and even McDonald’s. Twenty years ago, things were a tiny bit different. Actually they were a BIG difference. In the mid to late 1980s, John Cleese was a spokesperson for Compaq as they advertised their line of “portable” computers and desktop pro computers. It seems everything in the 1980s was bigger: phones, hair, collars, should pads in women’s clothes and you can also add computers to the list.
