Google announces it will include Twitter results

Posted October 22nd, 2009

When Bing opened it’s doors yesterdays to announce http://www.bing.com/twitter they opened up something Google wasn’t offering, a real-time Twitter search function. But it didn’t take Google long to respond. In a blog post on the Official Google Blog, Google also announced it’s plan of integrating Twitter updates to its search directory. “We have reached an agreement with Twitter to include their updates in our search results. We believe that our search results and user experience will greatly benefit from the inclusion of this up-to-the-minute data, and we look forward to having a product that showcases how tweets can make search better in the coming months,” posted Marissa Mayer, Vice President of Search Products and User Experience of Google.

We think this is another example of why it might be time to look a little closer at Twitter for your business if you haven’t already. Twitter might not be for everyone, but with it getting this much attention, a closer second look might be at hand.
